Today’s topic is all about how to get “high quality backlinks” for your blog.
Because there are many myths out there on the world wide web concerning there importance. Some believe they are no longer relevant. Others feel that without establishing a backlinking strategy for their blog, it will not ever rank on Google. And, I want to set the record straight.
But, before I begin, I want to share this.
Many bloggers, like myself in the beginning, often struggle to understand what exactly the term “backlink” means. And, it is my hope that my article can help you unravel the hype, understand EXACTLY what backlinks are and rather they are important to your blogs growth or not.
First, you need to know that much has changed concerning backlinks in the past couple of years. Because of “Black Hat” SEO techniques, Google changed the way they viewed backlinks.
But, once you understand exactly what backlinks are, then you will have to admit they are still important today!
So, lets dive in….
The common defination of a backlink is when an “external” website links to YOUR site, a backlink is created. But, according to my studies, there are TWO types of backlinks on your blog.
- Backlinks YOU create by linking to other websites;
- And, Backlinks OTHERS create linking back to your website.
If you use and pay attention to your Yoast SEO Plugin you will notice they advise you to link to other websites in order to increase your websites SEO. This is important on several platforms. Think about this…
Case Study #1 – Gail Gardner from “Grow Map”
Gail Gardner is a Social Media Influencer from GrowMap. I had the pleasure of interviewing Gail concerning her thoughts about using the WordPress Plugin called Comment Luv.
As a sign of appreciation for her time, I mentioned her in my article and I linked back to her blog.
The link pointing back to her blog not only enhanced my sites SEO, but created a valuable backlink pointing to HER blog as well.
So, backlinks are not only important for a website to gain respect, they are also an important tool to build relationships!
As mentioned, one type of “backlink” is created when an external website links to your site AND another type of backlink is created when you link to other websites. In other words, you create a “backlink” to someone elses site or someone links to your site from theirs.
Understanding THIS is how I was able to achieve as many high quality backlinks to MY blog.
The more generous I was to quote individuals in my post, I found they returned the favor…
Case Study #2 – Ryan Biddulph the “Blogger From Paradise”
Ryan Biddulph is known world wide as the “Blogger from Paradise”. He teaches blogging tips and has helped THOUSANDS build a successful blog and make money online.
I took notice of Ryan when I discovered we were on several platforms like Viral Content Bee, Triberr and several Facebook Blogging Groups together.
After reading several of his blog post, I felt my audience (fan base) would benefit from this expert bloggers advice. So, I began to share his post on my Facebook Page, Twitter profile and Pinterest.
I also made the decision and took the leap and purchased one of his ebooks “9 Tips for Getting Interviewed on Top Blogs: Blogging from Paradise”. And, within a week I was featured on not one but TWO major high ranking blogs! But, it got better….
As our professional relationship grew, Ryan rewarded me by mentioning me on BOTH of his sites!
Once Google indexed his post, I seen a MAJOR jump in my own blogs Domain & Page Authority!
THIS is the power of a high quality backlink…it increases your own Domain and Page Authority!
But, it all began by being a generous blogger.
Don’t be afraid or self centered. Reach out to your industries leaders and ask their opinion.
Quote them in your post and link to their blog.
And, you will be amazed how quickly you will gain high quality backlinks!
Ryan’s ebook helps you get recognized by high quality blogs and possibly get high quality backlinks from them as well. But, what are High Quality Backlinks?
Well, high quality backlinks come from high quality blogs or websites.
To better understand this you need to know that Search Engines like Google, Bing, etc., assign a VALUE to every site on the world wide web!
It’s also good to know that all new websites start with a Domain and Page Authority of zero.
In other words, let’s say you have started a new blog.
Then your Domain & Page Authority will start at ZERO!
And, it will be up to you to do the necessary work to get that number to rise. But, don’t worry. I am here to help you if you want.
Just remember, the higher your sites “Authority” the better it will rank in the Search Engines. And, the higher quality the site is linking to you, the stronger YOUR authority becomes.
What is Domain Authority
One more word on exactly what Domain Authority (DA) is. Domain Authority is a search engine score that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages (SERPs).
A Domain Authority score ranges from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater ability to rank.1
As you can see from the image here, I have high quality backlinks from places like BloggingTips.com, Viral Content Bee, Inspire to Thrive, and Blogging from Paradise. When Google sees these High Authority sites LINKING BACK TO MY SITE, then MY SITES Domain Authority rises.Did you know, Search Engines assign VALUE to every link on the world wide web? Here are the three most important ranking factors... Click To Tweet
But, why does Google assign this value?
Because, they are a business!
Their main concern is that their user base gets the value they are looking for when they search for a particular topic. And, it is everyone’s desire to climb the ranks of Page and Domain Authority.
